Easter Sunday for the Win!

Though it wasn't technically Hailey's first Easter, in one way it was. Hailey was finally old enough to open EGGS! We were a little concerned that she wouldn't get the whole "find the egg" concept, but once she realized they could be opened and closed, she was a pro at seeking them out. Unfortunately we were too wrapped up in following her around the house to find them that we didn't get any action shots. Oh well, you can imagine it.

The Easter bunny stuffed her eggs with stickers, stretchy bunny toys and goldfish.

After Hailey thoroughly opened and closed all of her eggs, we went to visit Grandma Betsy for some fun with bubbles!

Bubbles are one of Hailey's obsessions lately, so much so that we have to hide the bottles at home or she freaks out when she sees them and realizes no one is blowing said bubbles.

Hailey took a break from bubble blowing to squeeze in a quick piano lesson.

This is the same piano that used to be at my grandparents' house. As it turns out just about everyone in our family has a distinct memory with this piano. From playing "Heart & Soul", goofing off in its mirror, or spending sleepovers at Grandma & Grandpa's underneath it (apparently I'm not the only cousin who did this) it's kind of an infamous family heirloom at this point. I'm happy to see that it's bringing Hailey as much joy as it has everyone one else in our quirky fam.

Once we were back home, it was time to chalk up the front porch. FYI Chalk has now also been added to the "hide it or she'll freak out from not playing with it" list. It's also on mommy's "don't play with it unless it's laundry day" list.

As if that wasn't enough fun, we went for a walk around the block with Hailey's Tricycle. Lately though, Hailey's been more interested in hopping off mid-ride and playing with the latches. Rather than spend an afternoon trying to coerce her into staying on the trike, I decided to give in and embrace the love she has for tinkering. We found a quiet street and I set up camp. Sitting there on the sidewalk, I watched her for THIRTY FIVE minutes as she tinkered away. That's like WEEKS in toddler time. I guess she's got the engineering gene afterall...

SIDENOTE: I could stare at these curls forever.
My Girl.
As proof, I decided to take a video... WARNING: It's 3 minutes long, I won't judge you for skipping it lol, but I wanted to give a glimpse of just how long she would play like this.

Turning 31

31 has never felt so GOOD! This year for my birthday, we kept it low key and spent the day hanging out as a family. It was perfect. The day before was a Friday so my co-workers spoiled me by taking me out to lunch at the Stanford Golf Course, complete with perfect sunny weather and plenty of dessert. If I didn't already love my coworkers, this would have converted me.

On Saturday, we woe up bright and early (is there any other option when you have a toddler?) and walked with the Klein family (also parents of a toddler, also up early) to downtown for coffee at my favorite spot, Philz. Oh and Phil was there, and gave us free coffee, and had the whole coffee shop sing me Happy Birthday. No big deal. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Coffee from PHIL himself!
After that excitement, we all walked back home and Hailey graced me with a Dance Party.

Later for lunch, we headed over the hill for some grub at the Surf Spot. There's a big grassy hill behind the restaurant that Hailey fell in love with. Emphasis on "fell", she was a tad wobbly running down it ;-)

After that fun, we all headed home for some much needed nap time. For Dinner, we walked back to downtown and got Thai food. Turns out, all that Thai food I ate during pregnancy transfered over because this girl LOVES it. We've been having a hard time getting her to sit still at restaurants lately, but she's a champ when it comes to Thai, on her best behavior.

We had a great walk home after dinner, Hailey went to bed and Joe set us up with two of my favorite things... video games and cocktails. HEAVEN.

Man, if this is what 31 has in store for me, I'm a subscriber!
