Redwood City Fun Club - Cabo Edition

After a Virgin America sponsored SF Giants baseball game, we and a bunch of our friends ended up with 2-for-1 round trip flight vouchers to anywhere Virgin flies. Needless to say, we ended up booking our flights to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in November because nothing can prepare you more for the holidays than a 3 day tropical vacation at an all inclusive resort with all you can eat & drink. Heaven.

So after the much awaited countdown concluded, Joey, myself and 14 of our amazing friends packed up and headed out.

First stop... Lucas & Cary's house where the shuttle picked us up. Lucas had to do a little valet maneuvering to get as many of our cars onto his drive way... very impressive!

Tight Squeeze!
Then we were OFF to the airport!!!

Partybus Pre-Vacation Cocktails!
But wait, what's that magnificent cup everyone's holding you ask? Oh, let me show you!

Redwood City Fun Club - Cabo Fun Weekend Nov 9-12, 2012
Greg & Michelle ordered us all these amazing custom insulated travel cups with straws. These were the most amazing little gems of the trip because not only did they provide us shuttle beverages, but they were CRUCIAL to drinking at the pool bar, where the bartender could fill our cups and the pina coladas stayed frozen for a legitimate amount of time while we lounged around in the pool! High five to Greg & Michelle for thinking ahead!!! It was just a bonus that we looked cool with them ;-)

We took up the entire Virgin America check-in Aisle
After a 3 hour flight, customs and a 30 minute shuttle to the resort, THIS is what we showed up to...

Cabo San Lucas!!!
As soon as we unpacked out swimsuits and LOTS of sunscreen, we practically raced to the pool...

Jameson & Sarah with their fabulous sombreros

Whoever ordered these shots at the pool bar for us was our best friend & worst enemy

The girls in Water Aerobics!
Water Aerobics - Funniest thing EVER!
I think the resort should pay me for this shot...
Water Aerobics - 5 points to whoever can find Andie, Cary, Michelle & Trinette in this shot
Mike & GT
Jameson & Sarah
As you can probably tell we spent a LOT of time in the pool LOL. That plus we have a waterproof camera, so this is where most of our pictures were taken :-) However, we DID in fact get out of the resort for a bit and ventured out to see some nightlife!

Hubby & Me - Night on the Town!
Michelle & GT - Night on the town!
The next day, we ventured out as far as the beach :-)

Me & Hubby - Morning Stroll on the Beach
Joe and I snuck away one morning for a romantic breakfast just us at a nearby resort where they served us right on the beach. It was amazing.

Breakfast on the Beach!
Happy Campers!
Then again.. BACK to the pool!

Trinette & Heather
Andie & Lucas ( I think he's photo bombing his own picture)
Oh Mike

Pool Volley Ball
That volley ball photo was 100% staged to look like we all knew what we were doing. I'm on Joe's shoulders and it even looks like I'm doing something useful. LOL

16 Lazy, Sunburnt Bums
More lounging!
On our last day of the trip, a group of us went back to town to get some shopping done and delicious food
On out way to town for some authentic Mexican food!
The Special - Margarita + Corona --- Deelish!
See? We like it!
I think Trinette & Michelle ordered mind erasers (or something like it) You don't want to know what was in it.
Me & Trinette - We are such good sharers!
Sadly, that was the end of our trip and we had to hustle back to the resort to get our bags and head to the airport... Which looked a little something like this....

Sleepy heads!
All 16 of us somehow managed to get back to the States without any major issues, accidents, imprisonments, or 3rd degree sunburns so in all I'd say it was a pretty perfect trip! We've got such a great group of friends and the memory of this trip will keep me smiling for years and years to come!

Salsafest!

Last Saturday was the long awaited annual Salsafest in downtown Redwood City. One of our friends, Mike, makes truly amazing salsa and last year he ended up entering in the City's salsa competition and ALMOST won!! Unbelievable that he didn't because it's THAT good, but that just made us all so much more anxious to help him with it again this year!

At the festival, each competitor gets a booth to decorate and all morning (from 8-12) to cook/chop/mix their salsa. Mike and his wife Trinette were well prepared with the supplies so some of us came early to help decorate the booth...

Mike & Joe
We had a little trouble with the power supply so the boys put their heads (and arms & legs) together to come up with a solution.

Joe, Trinette & Cary
We were all hard at work setting up. Trinette's mixing up ingredients, Cary's hanging the boat and Joe... well Joe's just being cute.

It's all coming together
 Capt'n Mike's Salsa! Best in town :-)
The Capt'n Himself

The secret... Fireroasted Tomatoes & Jalepenos
Booth Babes Lisa, Cary & Sarah

Front Booth Final Product :-)
Side Booth Final Product

Trinette created a hilarious Southpark Avatar for Capt'n Mike and we couldn't stop laughing at it.  So much so that we made two and cut our the face of one so we could get pictures with it...

Capt'n Baby Alex and Brewer!
Who gave those kids beer?!? lol

Sarah, me, Trinette & Cary
The booth babes were hard at work serving up salsa samples to the voters. We couldn't hand out the salsa fast enough! (Probably because we were too busy taking pictures and goofing off)

Creepy Capt'n Joe
I told Joe to pose with the avatar on the boat... He pulls off "creepy" a little too well.

Me & Hubby (& my "Ahoy" face tattoo)
After the votes were all in, we all gathered at the courthouse square to await the results...

We're #1!!!
Quite the crowd!

Kevin & Joe - Killin' Time
Someone gave Kevin a bubble machine and I had to capture this moment. Do you see the look of aim & determination in Kevin's face? Hahahahahah

Trinette & Baby Kendall
How cute are these two!?!? Anyways, I digress... The results came in and.... wah wah wah nada! We didn't win a thing! Such a let down, I have to admit. On the plus side, we all had SO MUCH FUN the entire day that nothing could stop us from smiling. At the end of it all, we went back to clean up the booth and realized that there were still GALLONS of salsa left. Literally. So we broke out the chips and got a little crazy...

Oh Kendall...
We'll get 'em next year sailors!!!
